Gather your courage and sew. The first one will be your learning bag. It is a fun bag to make. Remember you do not have to do it just like the directions do it in way it is comfortable for you after all it your bag.

My nieces, daughter, and I had a mini retreat the past 4 days and we made the bow tuck purses. I admit the pattern needs more pictures, it would make it easier! But read the instructions several times and it is really easy if you do it one step at a time. The end result is worth it. Once you get the fusing and the quilting done it goes together fast. One thing we changed was just measuring the 2 1/2" square with a ruler and marking the corners with a pencil on each of the body and lining pieces and folding them to make the corners. We didn't feel making the template was necessary.
Have fun with it, it's not a big deal. :)

Do what the designers do, make the pattern out of cheap muslin first. All the mistakes will be learned on that. I usually sew a new purse or small project in muslin first. It really saves time in the long run.

I've made several totes including a bow tuck. As someone mentioned earlier, I think the bottom of the bag should be stitched closed after you turn the bag right side out. Also, the pattern tells you to make the pocket but it doesn't tell you how to attach it. I made a copy of the pattern and as I did each step I highlighted it. That way I don't get lost and I know right where I am if I've had to leave it for a while. Just jump in there and make it - it's only fabric.

I made the bow tups bag with a butterfly print and pink contrast and it was greatly admired. The lady at the dressing room of the store I frequent was so intrigued by it that she asked me to make her one! I don't have a picture, because I gave it to her! It's not that hard once you get it cut out.
