Have had this for a while, see the date...whew. Anyway I lost the instructions on how to draft templates the five piece plate, or any of them really....I cannot find anything on the web either. Does anyone have this, have they used it, if so would you share either a copy of the instructions or a site where I can get them. Thanks

Hello Kellen
I looked at my Easy Dresden template and it is different from your's (same as shown in the link given by Hobo). I've begun googling Holiday Designs which is written on your template but without success so far, just lots of holiday designs!! I do have the instruction sheet to go with this one - if it will help send me a PM and I'll scan and send

Please measure the length and width (top and bottom) of your template, so that I can make a paper one to play with - 1989 is copyright date but there is also 20/10/05 stamped on it which confuses the date.

Hello Kellen 46
Haven't heard back from you re measurements of ruler so did my best to figure it out. It seems that you enlarged the photocopy shown here because spaces between measurements are larger than inches and half inches!!
Have reduced copy to 88% and used pieces of paper as per the large wedge template/ruler, which, after allowing 1/4" side seams, makes a dresden plate/flower of approximately 28" diameter!!!
Folding papers down on the 5 piece line gives a centre point as per pointed dresdens and you will need 20 wedges per dresden which can then be appliqued to background fabric.
Looking at the ruler copy, it separates cones into left and right pieces so presume the main wedge can be two-coloured as in Lemoyne Star - presumably you would need to add seam allowances to insides if you split the wedges but I haven't tried them too well yet. Folding fabric down on the 10 piece line gives a less sharp point to the petals.
I've given up searching dresden plate rulers online after pages 10+. I hope this helps a little

yes you helped. I spent an afternoon noodling about to figure it out. Finally got a Pentagram. I wish I could find the instructions though. I have way too many templates I fear.

I am not sure if this is the exact ruler, but it does have a video
showing how to use it, Might be of some help to you.
www.phillipsfiberart.com If you go to the products and go
to Jewel box gems, moroccan tiles rulers then on to the
description there in the link is a place to click to watch a video.
Hope this helps.

My memory kicked in today. The template from Holiday Design is designed by Donna Poster who is most recently known for Foldy Stuff. Check this web site
http://www.quiltwithdonna.com/foldystuffpagea.html
and ask if she has instructions. Suggest you send a picture of the template.

I finally figured it out, it is a complicated way to make different sizes of Dresden plate segments, mostly I want to try to make a pentagram unit....who knows why. So I went figured out all the possible angles and made my own templates from a light weight plastic, put them in a bag with my hand written notes, and then in a drawer where is will probably languish for a few more years.....yes it is crazy but then I am a quilter who buys yards of expensive fabric, cuts it up into little pieces, re sews it back into yards of fabric, spends hours stitching it into a blanket and then mostly gives it away.....now that is a definition of nutso.
