Love your back to school door hanging. I have a question? Do you stitch around every letter when you applique? I am fairly new to applique and it just seems some pieces would be hard to stitch down, for example inside the letter "A" you couldn't stitch that down could you?

I have my first grade Fun with Dick and Jane book! My teacher gave it to me because I was the best reader in class. My kids practiced reading from it and my granddaughter learned to read it before kindergarten. I bought a whole bolt of the original Dick and Jane fabric before it was taken off the market because of copyright issues. Michael Miller now has the rights to print certain images of Dick and Jane.

Oh yes, I remember Dick and Jane and Spot. Now I have great grandkids who can't and don't want to read. Thanks to our government and their political views. We have to be real careful and don't hurt anyone's feelings. Bah, humbug! Ha. I love your quilt.

That is pretty. Love your fabric. Yes, I do remember those days. Brought the book at our local Wal-Mart. That is what I teach my grands to read from when they come over.

Yes, I sure do remember them. They are still popular, aren't they?

I use the blanket stitch and yes, I stitch around each letter and inside the ones that have inner places to stitch. It is really a lot easier than it looks. I love appliqueing.
