When paper piecing do you remove the paper after you have sewn the blocks and sashing together?

I remove the paper when I am done with the block. I find it easier to match up the seams

I like to have my blocks either sewn to each other or to the sashing before I remove the paper. After all that work, I don't want to take the chance of distorting the blocks or removing a few stitches from the edges. Sometimes the blocks edges are on the straight of grain but sometimes they are on the bias and it's best to anchor the edges to the next piece before removing the paper and maybe stretching?

I remove my paper when I'm done with the quilt top. It's my final step before sandwiching. It helps keep the project totally stable and square until it's ready for quilting.

I take the paper off when done with the block but I square it up first with the paper on.

I just finished my first block and I am leaving the paper on until I have finished putting the blocks together. This way I am sure I am still on track and I won't be off on one line which, as we know, will throw off the whole thing.
Happy Stitching!

Is there any kind of water soluable (sp?) paper piecing paper so you don't have to pull it all off? I hate doing that, such a pain!

I have not seen any but I don't use regular paper. I use exam table paper, sort of like tracing paper. Much easier to remove.

Yes, there is. Joannes carries it, but it's pricey. I do a lot of foundation type quilts using paper backing that go to charity, so I can't afford to buy the dissolvable.
