I am so excited I spent most of yesterday cutting out all my fabrics, itching to use my new sewing machine that dh bought me for christmas. I have never done any quilting before and my sewing skills are OKish, I can sew in a straight line.

After having a few probs with the automatic needle threader I practiced on a bit of scrap material and then I went for it. I have now done 2 blocks and all my seams line up which was the thing that I was worried about most. I think it had a lot to do with ironing before I stitched each strip together. I am so pleased with myself and needed to share LOL

Congratulations and good job. I've been sewing for ages and still have trouble with those straight lines...I(My husband has noted that I veer to one side when walking!) If you've already done two blocks, you may be hooked. Quilting is a great hobby.

Yeah for you! Measure twice, press, cut & sew once! [You hope...] I'm also big on using starch, helps me-others may not agree, it's one of those you love it/you hate it things, but worth a try to see if it works for you. Proud of you!

Great start!! Keep going it will get more addictive and you will enjoy it. I have only completed one quilt and I have enjoyed it so much I have a list a mile long of quilts I want to make. You will find tons of help and encouragement here. The ladies here are great.
