Are seam rippers better when you pay more? Or less expensive ones good too?

I use a very small Gingher scissors with a sharp pointed end to clip every third or fourth stitch on one side of the seam and then pull off the thread on the other side of the seam. I use the same scissors to clip threads between chain stitched pieces.

The ones that look like a scalpel are the best. Don't let them intimidate you - better to be sharp and work then to be dull or unbalanced and ruin your hard work.

Sorry I don't know what kind to get. I use the cheaper ones but it
would probably amaze me at how bad I need a new one if I would
get one. Mine is old.

I always use my embroidery scissors, pointy and sharp, they rip seams, cut threads, I even use the handle side to flatten seams. I ''wear''them on a whistle band never have to look for them

I absolutely love the seam ripper that comes with the Viking sewing machines. Try to keep several on hand just in case I misplace one.

I purchased at my LQS a seam ripper that looks like a mustach trimmer. I love it and use it very often. It is so fast and easy to use. It cuts the threads only and not the material. You run it between the two sewn pieces of material and it cuts right through the thread.

Run it between the two pieces of material that you need to rip the seam out of.
