looking for a book for 12yr old girls to make potholders for mother day gifts they are part of pre-teen youth group from church that another girl and I are going to try we did limit it to 6 girls but we had a total of 5 who wanted to do it so we R breaking it to 3 groups of 5 in the beginning we had settled for 3 week sign up but the church secretary called the second day it was on the bulletin board and said there where 5 girls so carla the other teacher hurried and closed the sign-up.If it goes smooth we will do it again in the summer. R we nuts ?? A few Moms said we are LOL Thanks Aunt Patti

Good luck with this adventure. I think it is great that you are doing this with them. :)
Google potholders. I recently made one that has a pot holder at both ends of a long peice of fabric. And all it is is a long piece of fabric, with backing and insulbrite inside it and you sew on fabric to where you put your hands in. Put binding all the way around it. :) Quite simple.

Martha Stewart has a free pattern for heart shaped potholders.

It's not a book. Just a single pattern but it's really cute.

thanks I will never thought to google it I am new to the computer so I am not very computer savy. I sure we are not bitting more than we can chew Lol I hav taught reg type crafts (easy) usually done in 2 hours or so. so this will be new to us too.

here is a link of the QB with an easy tutorial for making a pot holder. I tried it last night and it was easy. Young girls are really smart and creative, they would enjoy it. Give it a shot.

A 6 1/2 inch four patch would make a great potholder and teaches basic piecing.

Thanks I will look it up trying to decide if we should cut fabric for them or let them try they R 12 year olds.

THANK-YOU everybody I do have lots tochoose from 3 groups I think each group will do a different one and when they come together at the end when everyone is done we will hav a pizza party and they can show off theirs to the others I hv two set of twins that R going to take the class and we decided to seperate them so mom is getting two sets that match LOL
