Default I need a plan for this fabric!

I want to make my grandson a quilt for his high school graduation with this fabric but I need a block or a quilt that is manly, if you know what I mean. I would like to maybe focus on red white & blue since he is going into the Coast Guard. I trust you all to have some great ideas, I've seen them! And I'm coming up blank.

Thanks a bunch.

How about Warm Wishes? gender neutral and it will showcase the fabric nicely.

The picture by your name looks interesting. You might need some blenders to make it less busy.

how about a shadow quilt as seen here https://www.google.com/search?q=shad...w=1017&bih=685
if you are using sneakers because he's a basketball player, the sneaks will be floating off the 'floor' as when shooting a basket

There is a pieced sneaker pattern. It was in a magazine so it should be on the net. I would do the pieced sneaker blocks in the same colours in the fabric and use the sneaker fabric for sashing and borders.

I like that quilt, but not sure I'd do it again. I gave it to a woman raising funds for medical expenses to auction off. I didn't like it until I said I'd give it to her. I kept my promise.

I'm gonna keep track of all these ideas. I have 8 grandsons, so many manly quilts are in my future.

So so many good suggestions. Thank you all. Time for contemplating.

The pattern I was thinking of was by Sonja Callaghan and it was in Quiltmaker May/ June magazine a couple years ago? It had 3 neat patterns for sports fans. One was the skateboard pattern and the sneakers pattern was called - I Love My All Stars.
