One of the sites has some cute umbrellas that could be done with a different color for each wedge. Kind of appropriate since they live in Washington State.

Missouri Star Quilt Co Quilting has several quick designs that would be cute depending on your taste. I was just looking
at several of the jelly roll quilts tutorals that I thought were nice for kids

I really like your idea. I would run with it, if I were you. Be sure to post pics when they're finished.

I recently seen a quilt that was 4 patches alternated with the 3d pinwheels-the 3d pinwheel blocks were made with white backing and a colored pinwheel so it stood out really nice. I believe they were all 5" squares. there is a tutorial on the board for making those pinwheels

I looked at the 3D pinwheels, those are pretty cool. They would make some nice flower heads in the center panel too.

Gorgeous color choices and will make beautiful girly quilts, whichever pattern you choose.

My 5 yr old GD is into everything princess, princess, princess. All princesses. Pink and Purple. We are designing it together. I decided to just enjoy our interaction together on this project and work through my dislike of pink.

pittsburgpam, I love your applique quilts you designed. I think you should go with it, you have this all played out in your mind and they will turn out beautifully.
