HI---CAT HERE
Can anyone tell me what the stitch called --cross hatch-- looks like ?? I ran across this in an old quilting magazine. They were discribing a quilt made back in the late 1800's. The quilt blocks were all the "rail pattern" with a border. The border was hand quilted in a cable pattern but the center or the rail blocks had no visible quilting from the front, how ever when the back of the quilt was examined it was discovered that the quilter had done the "cross hatch" stitch all over the back and only just bearly caught the front enough to keep the integrity of the sandwich in place. Thanks for any help you can give me--CAT :D

What Debbie described is what I always thought cross hatch was--kind of a grid pattern of stitching. Whether you do it straight or on the diagonal--I have done both, but on the sewing machine. I have become too impatient to do it by hand--want faster results than hand quilting gives you.

I don't have much luck with my computer any more posting. But if this come through here is several instructions on quilting including cross hatching.
