Yes price is a consideration here....these machines are not cheap. But my advise has always been in regards to service. What store makes you feel welcomed, what store is willing to share their knowledge, what store is really 'listening' to you. What is the turn around in their service department. Where I live now for service on either my Bernina or Brother machine I have to travel a good hour one way....sometimes I can wait for repair, some times I have to make a trip back. To me service for our machines is everything....

I have a Babylock Ellageo which I purchased around 2000. In my opinion, Babylock outranks all the others I have seen used. However, Brother is a very good one too . Keep in mind, you will need software to open and export your designs to your machine and I really would like one that connects directly to my Emb. machine as this would save on extras I have to buy. If you can't get one like that then do get one that has a USB port for transfering designs. ( And by the way, you will prob. use it a lot)

Yes I agree...the old writing on cards was a pain, my new Duettea 4500 Brother has the usb port so I can use a flashdrive. have like 4,000 designs on it....very handy

You can't go wrong with a Janome 350, or any Janome machine. I have had many machines over the years, Brothers, Singer, Baby loc, Viking, but my Janome is the best for the money, and ease of use. I have the 6600P, 6500, Jem Platinum (for rv-we travel in oer 5th wheel). I also bought a Jem Platinum for my 13 year old granddaughter
who used it to start piecing for quilting. Also when she goes off to college, she can take it with her.
I love Janome. The 350 is the best embroidery machine for the price.
