I've got a bunch of Bamboo Velour dyed yardage that I'm just not happy with as whole pieces, as in...to make a back to a quilt, but I think I could pull off breaking it up into quilt squares and making it a top...anyone heard of this? Velour is sure slippery and stretchy...would I be committed after trying this project???

I am always one to try. I have made quilt tops out of everything from "fun fur" to ultra suede. If you know how to sew with knits, you should do fine. It would end up with a great feel.

You could always back it with fusible interfacing, and then treat it like quilting cotton :D:D:D

You would have to use a stabilizer just like when making a T-shirt quilt.

I made a "silky" quilt for my granddaughter. She loves "soffies" to sleep with. It was very slippery while sewing it but, worth it knowing she was happy with her soft blanket.

That's a good idea. Since it's bamboo and not acrylic, I should be able to iron just fine, huh?

Can this fabric be ironed and washed? Two main points to consider when choosing fabric for a quilt. What about shrinkage when it is washed. The backing will have to be similar so it will have the same shrinkage when washed. Otherwise your finished quilt maybe distorted after washing.
