The flip flop pattern came from the latest Fons & Porter. I sent the magazine it to Terri in Guam. I changed it a bit- the flip flops are the same and the strips between the rows are the same but it had log cabin squares surrounding it and I wanted to use the fabric in squares Terri sent me. The flip flop one is from my stash- I did purchase the yellows, but I've already decided to use the leftovers in my other quilts. The sunbonnet Sue is the BOM and I added the crumbs- all from my stash. And of course- the butt ugly quilt is from my stash. Lots of stash busting going on, but it isn't eliminating the tub of scraps. :)

Barb

P.S. Trying to get away for a bit- my step daughter had a baby 5 days ago and needs some help. trying to figure how to pack a machine and tub of scraps besides all the stuff I need to get to her. I can always leave the machine behind for her as I have 4 now. But, the excuse for the tub of fabric???? I can always work on my applique or crumb blocks. Now what to do on the 10 hr. drive..... can't read, I get car sick. Am taking the laptop so I am "connected" to work. May not get to go anyway- issues with my back up here for work and babysitter for the dogs.

Wow, I love all of these quilts! Glad you posted the pictures because I couldn't figure out what a flip flop quilt was. Thought it was reversible or something. Dah!!! :?

On one of the threads someone mentioned placing a type of stabilizer before doing the applique. I wish I could find it now so I could personally thank the person who recommended this. But- THANK YOU! This has made a huge difference. The flip flop quilt is the first one I've ever done applique on and I did 3 blocks without freezer paper, then added freezer paper to the back and- they look sooo much better! Ok- I do need more practice, but they are looking better and better. I've been trying all the different stitches on my machine so it's a lot of fun. Half way through the blocks, hoping to have the top done by the week end.

Just wanted to thanks to all the tips and help I've received on this site! You guys are the BEST!!!

The flip flop quilt is finished! I added a close up of one of the blocks. My border changed as I was getting tired of it. I'm happy with it. Doing binding on one of my WIPs tonight and 2 of the 7 WIPs are done. Back to the crumby Sue quilt, need that in 3 weeks for family reunion. Seriously thinking of no more family reunion quilts. Too much time and $ for free. I figured a way to fix the butt ugly quilt- making a 24" carpenter's square in the middle. With a border, it will replace 9 squares of crumbs and make it more calming. First- the Sue quilt needs to get done. Have to keep on schedule- can't stand these WIPs hanging around.

Thanks! Gave it to Leanne- future DIL last night. She loved it. She said she always wanted her own quilt to snuggle with. I put light blue fleece on the back so it's soft and squishy.

It was her belated birthday gift- 1 week late, but at least it was close.
