Default Sunbeam iron care

Does anyone have a Sunbeam auto shut-off, variable steam iron and happen to have the manual? I've looked online to no avail. Just picked this up from a freecycler who said the steam function seemed to have stopped working. Well, it steams just fine to me but does need a good cleaning out. I've used just tap water a couple of times so far and it's definitely getting better. But there are lots of calcium deposits around the vent holes. We have very hard water in this area. It has a teflon bottom. My question really boils down to - can/should I put any white vinegar into the tank (and if so, how much vinegar/water) and, can I soak the soleplate in a bath of water/vinegar to help loosen the deposits (and again, how much vinegar)?

I figured I'd just have this as a back up in case either of my other 2 irons suddenly gave up the ghost and I was in the middle of something. And it was free. Decided I really didn't care if the steam didn't work - there's always spray bottles. BUT, since it does seem to be functioning, why not give it a good cleaning and see if it works better, right?

Any/all hints or clues greatly appreciated. Thanks.

ask.com might have the answer to your question: http://www.ask.com/web?q=how+to+clea...9&o=1577&l=dir on this page, there is a list of things on which there is information. granted this may not be information for your specific iron, but it is worth a look. use your judgement. now, that said...what do bottom feeder fish have to do with anything? (see list of other iron cleaning on the site.)

Thanks for the link. Said to use 50/50 water/vinegar for the inside. So that part is covered. Guess I'll google cleaning teflon surfaces for that issue.

Searched them for hours to no avail. I never seem to have luck with that site, but thanks.
