I did'nt know either, but never asked. But seeing some of them posted, they are just like the 72 different block quilt I made years ago for a raffle...I called it "Country Sampler"

Okay, we're giving leatheflea the award for best response ever! I'm laughing out loud at my computer right now!

But seriously, I do intend to make a Dear Jane someday. I'm not enamored with the colors of the original, but I've seen some really beautiful and colorful versions of the quilt.

I think that "dear jane" is from a real life story of the woman who made the first one? It is an incredible quilt of tiny, difficult blocks and a lot of them. It is right up there with one of those patterns listed under "do before I die". I think I'll pass myself. They are nice but not something I won't to do. I think the people who do conquer the dear jane can give themselves a big pat on the back. Kind of like those who do a Grandmother's Flowergarden or the Oh My Gosh quilt.

It's the one placed in the picture to the left. Your avatar is your red barn.
