May shop in Maine because I am not especially happy with the local dealers in NH. Anyone here know about Tony's in Maine?

Thanks for suggestions.

Just an idea, but there are tons of 'free' alphabets on the internet, so why pay for another embroidery machine when all you have to do is load embroidery alphabet into it. Also, don't know about your machine, but my Brother embroidery machine has built in alphabet and you can change the size right on the machine. Do you think you could do that?

I just got an e-mail add, that promotes a new Brother SE400. I checked this out and this machine has more than the SE350 and also allows computer access by USB port. cost 369.00 and free shipping to store at Walmart http://www.brother-usa.com/HomeSewin....mc_ev=clickt. this is my attempt to give you the link.
I bought the Brother SE 400 today online from Ken's Sewing Center. I paid 369.00 and when I called the store to pay for it, I spoke with the owner who was so friendly. He threw in thread, stabilizers and bobbins and told me to call with any questions or concerns any time. The service was wonderful. Can't wait for the machine to arrive in 3 business days!

Walmart sells a Brother for under $400. The limitation is that it is only a 4 x 4 hoop embroidery field. It has lots of built in stitches and is also a regular sewing machine. Brother sells a lot of cards forit or you can buy a blank one and write to it with Ped Basic, which allows you to download a lot of the free stuff out there on the net. Good luck and let us know what you end up with! :-D

usb port is the way to go with these it avoids the cards and writer. Didn't realize they had an entry level with usb now. :-)

I also have aJanome 660 and wanted to do more embroidery -- only I went the other way and bought the Brother Quattro 6000. It is fantastic -- does everything but wash windows! Originally I thought to trade in my Janome, but glad I kept it and use the two side-by-side.

As far as getting a new embroidery machine, get one that you can get support and instructions. Nothing is more frustrating than fumbling around computer screens not knowing where to go or what to push. Get one with the biggest hoop you can afford or you will find yourself outgrowing it too soon.

You may want to check into the prices of the cards for the Embroidery machines. Some have a brutal price tag. you should try to get one with a USB port that lets you load any fonts or designs that you want. Please don't be in a hurry to buy one.
