It is hard to comment on design without seeing the fabric. However my gut is telling me that you should reconsider your setting triangles. I know what you mean by looks "chunky" but these are the ugly ducklings that turn into swans with quilting. I think more than one color will compete with the stars which are the focus of this quilt. A blue triangle with white quilted feathers may be the icing on the cake. I have only recently come to realize that the plain looking chunky parts are the background for quilt work.

I agree...do it just as is...in fact...I may "copy" you for mine. I love the big open chunks for quilting later.

You could sew strips of the fabrics you used together and cut setting triangles from them.

Uhm, what is wrong with it? I see the setting triangles with the white squares as part of the inside border. Any more "activity" might detract from the center blocks.

Ok... now I'm getting really carried away. Been playing some more, after laying it out on the floor last night and deciding I really like it, I started to wonder if I could make it a bit bigger.

Is another border too much?
You don't have to be polite... I'm very new to this designing thing, so will appreciate all honest opinions! :-)

I love that border, but it kind of distracts from your stars.

It's difficult to imagine, but the stars are a lot brighter and crisper in real life, the blocks in this image are photographed and then scanned into EQ, so they've lost a lot of sparkle.
