Does anybody know of any charities or organizations which deal specifically with the developmentally disabled?

Not a specific one...but if you can find a local Project Linus chapter near you , you can join for free and we have free donated fabric you can use for quilts. We have a group of Dis. ladies who embroider on squares for us and put quilt kits together. You can also try "freecycle.org". In your area you may find people giving fabric away. You can also do a "wanted" post and ask for fabrics, etc. Check into it. Good luck.

Thanks - I'm not disabled or looking for fabric, I just want my projects to go to the disabled.

hi! You might try googling Special Olypics. They may have some information that could help you. :D

Beth, MANY years ago I was a CNA at a nursing home and the 1st floor that I worked on was only the developmentally disabled. You can check the nursing homes in your area to see if they have a floor for the D.D. Not all nursing homes are for the aged. And you could make quilts and deliver them locally. Just a thought.

You could make lap quilts and donate to nursing homes, quilts for kids at hospitals,

Have fun and enjoy your quilting!

Check with your local chamber of commerce or even your post office for something in your area. Good luck.
