Iron Nearly Caused a Fire
#71
I had the same problem, use 2 of the digital advantages for a long time and used them all day sometimes and they finally wore out. But when I tried to replace the last one that model was no longer available so I had to buy a newer model . I had the first only a few weeks and I heard a crackling noise and smelled burning wires and quickly unplugged it. The company replaced my irons 4 times because they continued to do it one after the other.
finally they sent one that has (knock on wood) worked just great it is a D 1500.

I plug my iron into a powerstrip that also has a radio plugged into it that is turned on. When I leave the room I shut the power strip off and the radio is off. This helps me remember. However I still unplug my iron (just in case). This minni tradgidy tells me I'm not just being parinoid. Thanks for sending out a warning

Always unplug your toasters too. Anything with a heating element in it has a fire potential. I'm really careful in my sewing room with the iron or presser. I prefer to unplug all of my machines unless I'm using it. I don't want to lose any of my "treasures" because I was careless.
