The most popular brand in Mexico, where it's pronounced Ja-no-me; three syllables.

Food for thought: The Japanese company that purchased New Home also invented the round drop in bobbin. The Japanese people thought it looked like a snake eye...so they named the new company Janome..the Japanese name for snake eye. I was told this story by an Asian lady at the Houston Quilt festival several years ago. She pronounced it with 3 syllables...Ja-no-me.

My thoughts exactly, one time when I was taking a class, I had just got my new Janome. The instructor just cut it down. I had been so happy about my new machine & still am. The instructor spoiled the whole class for me. I never took another class , she taught.
