Hi...I have had the 6600P for a couple of weeks now and love it, the stitch quality is excellent but I am having a real problem with getting an accurate 1/4inch and also it likes to eat the fabric....as I am just doing small flying geese patches I don't really want to use a leader fabric all the time....do you use the accufeed 1/4 foot and plate ?
I have also posted on the yahoo site to see what other help their might be.

The accuracy of the 1/4" is achieved by setting your needle one way or the other. The setting number can be different with each foot. I made a note of what needle setting to use with each foot. Leaders and chainstitching really cuts down on the "eating" problem. If I am not lazy at the time I switch my needle plate to the single hole one. And no, I do not use the AF foot for piecing. I also am not fond of Janomes 1/4" foot. The guide is bothersome tonme, so I snapped it off. I also recently bought the O2 foot and that seems to let me go over bulky intersections easier. In feneral I love this machine, but the 2 complaints I have are the bulky intersection problem and the thread jumping out of the take up lever causing chaos! These 2 concerns jump uo all the time on the Yahoo group sitr. That site with its files have wonderful info.

yep, different needle positions for either 1/4" foot.
there are so many ways you can find the 1/4" mark..by sewing 3 fabric squares together..each one measuring 3.5 inches.

then when done,measure the center square, it should be 3".

or using a small index card, sew on it, the lines a 1/4" apart.
move your needle left or right to get it on the mark. once you find that number..give it one more push..for the "scant" 1/4".


then you have to make note of the needle position!

i wrote on my machine..i never plan to give her up..so i din't mind marking it.

edit to add: i do not use the Accufeed foot to piece..
