I bought the 7700 a month ago, have had it now for 3 weeks, love the machine. I got a good deal thru Sewing machines plus, it was financed for a great price, free shipping, NO tax and NO interest.
They had the 8900 at that finance deal at that time too - purchased mine on tax day.

I got the 8200 a couple of weeks ago trading up from the 6500. Love it. Better lighting, more harp space, the 1/4 inch seam setting that is spot on every time, the accufeed system with the wider feet which never slip or slide, the plate change which is just pushing button to lift one off and insert the other one, larger plate so more of the mechanical parts are exposed and can be cleaned easier, the drop stitch function that can be engaged at any point in a decorative stitch but will wait until the end of a design before slowing down and stitching in place...smart machine...and there are probably more that I haven't discovered! My LQS was pricing it at $2900 but had a spring cleaning special where they would give you $820 for ANY machine that you brought in for trade. One thing the 8900 has that the 8200 doesn't is a magnifying glass right over the sewing area and I think a couple more lights. For me, it's the machine that I could afford and have more control over my sewing.

Hi Madriver: I was at my local Janome dealer yesterday and am considering purchasing the 8200 for $2,000 and that comes with 5 years maintenance and of course the warranty. I loved the 8900 but couldn't justify the extra $1,000. After reading your post, I am realizing I need to shop around for a better price before I make the plunge. Can you email me the supplier in Florida that you purchased your 8900 from. Thank You

$2000 for the 8900 Horizon is a VERY good deal. I was quoted $4000.00 just a few weeks ago. It is a wonderful machine and does everything. The 9 mm feed makes a great difference, and the led lights make you feel like you are on an air line runway!!! The machine I test drove came with unlimited classes forever and a 5 year guarantee. It was a wonderful deal and a fun machine.

Madriver and others, I would also like a PM with the name of the Florida dealer with the great price on the 8900. Have you ladies actually made the purchase and had a good experience with this dealer online?

I haven't had any problems with the dealer. Like I posted, this is my mother's local dealer in Florida. I live in NY and the machine was shipped up to me. The 8900 is awesome!

In the showroom, the dealer has a $2999 price tag on the 8900. When my mother expressed an interest in the machine, his initial offer was $2499. When her, her two friends and myself (in NY) said we all wanted one he said he'd do it for $2000 each. This was a few weeks prior to the quilt show in Paducah. My mother said she wasn't going to do anything prior to the show and wanted to price the machine there. The dealer said he'd price match Paducah although he doubted very much she'd get a better price there. He was right.

Once she returned, she went back to the shop. One of her friends backed out of the purchase so it was only 3 people purchasing instead of the original 4. He still (without a peep) sold the three machines for $2000 each. He also gave me free shipping/no tax.

I'm thrilled with the machine. It was a painless and easy transaction, not to mention a great deal.

Since his initial offer to my mother (before he realized more than one person would be buying) was $2499 there's NO WAY I'd pay more than that at any dealership.

Best of luck on getting your machine.

I just ordered my machine from Madriver's dealer. $2250 including shipping. He said he can no longer match the $2000 he sold it for to Madriver and her mom. I was fine with the $2250. By the way, other dealers are also selling it for $2199 including shipping. (Found this out 10 minutes too late, but I really like the owner of the company in FL). Also, he shipped it out today and there is no sales tax since I don't live in Florida. That saved me $150 right there. I can hardly stand it, I'm so excited to get my new machine.
