Default Juki tl-2200qvp mini - foot pedal issue

Hoping someone can help me out. I just got a Juki 2200qvp mini and the pedal only trims the thread, it doesn't sew. It came with a rubber thing to put under the heel of the pedal to disable the trimming but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Even pressing the toe of the pedal cuts the thread.

I'm a novice, but I'm pretty sure I have everything threaded correctly and the tension is okay. I can sew slowly with the needle up/down button just fine, stiches and tension look great.

    What am I doing wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong, we got 4 bad foot controls, in brand new Jukis, in one month. There was a rash of bad foot controls. Take or send it back where you got it and get it fixed or replaced.

Thank you! I was bracing for having to admit to user error over something that should be quite simple!
