Janome MC6600p Monogramming

Janome MC6600p Monogramming
I was making a quilt label last night on my Janome MC6600p. I'm disappointed. The machine refuses to make a proper letter "g". It seems to be totally missing the lower part of the letter and the "g" looks more like an "e". I also found what appear to be periods after the lower case letter "t" and before the lower case letter "s", and that the letter "o" does not close at the bottom.
I re-entered all the letters three different times and still had the same issues. I tried it using both full height and reduced height letters and had the same issues. I ended up using a threaded needle and doing the letter "g" tails and closing the letter "o" by hand just to get it done. Nothing to be done about the "periods", other than trying to remove them.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it inherent to this machine's monogramming abilities? I've only had the machine about a month, and will most likely take it into the dealer soon to have it checked out, since I bought the extended maintenance warranty, etc, but it's frustrating and I hate to be without the machine this time of year with so many gifts to finish up .

Funny thing, though...if I stitch the word "egg" both "g's" turn out perfectly, yet when I end a name in the same letter "g" it looks like an "e"! And, yes, I'm using stabilizer.
Well, I've changed to several different needle sizes other than what the instruction manual called for, changed the tension, changed thread, cleaned the bobbin area, etc, and the machine still produces the exact same bad "g" at the end of a name, yet a perfect "g" when making other words. How strange!

When I bought this machine the sales woman told me she didn't know what that dial was for on the front center of the machine, said that nobody ever uses it so not to worry about it! Huh! I guess I'll have to inform her when I go in to the shop next time! (I'll be sure to let her know where I got that info from! lol)

Great! Im glad you found the info. I wasnt near my machine so didnt know the name of the dial, but I knew there was something about the subject. Do you know about the Janome Yahoo group? Lots of info there and lots of files with an abundance of helps. The Janome 6500 and 6600 is a combined group. Very active groups with very knowledgeable Janome owners.

No, I didn't know about the Janome Yahoo group. I'll definitely be checking it out.
I'm pretty happy with the 6600 so far, and really like how the tensions are adjustable. My old machine is a Pfaff, couldn't adjust the presser foot tension, and although I much prefer the Pfaff walking foot over the Janome one, that's about the ONLY thing I can unfavorably compare at this point. The Pfaff walking foot can be used with most of the other feet, making it a standard size and you don't have to remove the regular foot shank to use it. I find that annoying with the Janome, not to mention how bulky the Janome walking foot is, and I keep popping my fingers with it when I move it out of the way to release the feet from the shank. If I'd never had the Pfaff I guess I wouldn't know the difference. Maybe I should suggest to Janome that they make their walking foot compatible with the standard feet.
