While searching the local Craiglist, I came across this ad. Seems to be too good of a price, I googled and they are $2,000!

Would you ask for pictures? And of course if it has been serviced.

Also, is it a good machine? If it is and the price is good...and the machine is good. I would love to talk DH in letting me get it.

Go for it! I wouldn't agree to buy until I'd had a chance to sew on it; with the vintage machines you can almost always fix whatever's wrong with them, but I wouldn't take my chances on the modern computerized ones. Test it out, including the embroidery, and good luck!

Let me work on getting the pictures... I am having a yard sale with a friend and have been working on going through my entire house and getting rid of things we don't use. I bought the machine used at store name- I paid $880. That was 2 years ago... I really haven't used it enough to get it serviced I have used it some for regular sewing... I was wanting to do an Etsy business with sewing and Embroidery but it never happened. Seeing it sit on the shelf makes me kind of sad. I haven't seen any issues with it, it's a great machine and can't beat it for the price. I would take it any day over one of the ones you can get at Walmart. It comes with all the orginal stuff I got with it and I do have the manual as well as some extra pre-wound bobbins.

I do know where the store is and they are a Janome dealer, along with other machines. What do you think? If I can get DH to go with me, if she will let me, I would like to see it run and test it out.

I have the Janome 6600P and it is a very good machine. You need to take your own fabric and thread and sew on this machine before purchasing to see if you like the way it handles.

I have the 9500. I got it several years ago. I never had a problem with any thing on the machine.I sew on it nearly every day.From hemming blue jeans,making quilts and embroidery. Its a good machine.

Thanks! What thread do you use? I just use the Clark thread from Wal-Mart currently. Does it need a specific thread?

And the throat is big enough for quilts? I read some reviews that said it wasn't good for quilting, just really embrodiering.

If you put 9500 in the search box, you will get 13 reviews by people who own the machine. Looks pretty good! At that price, I would make sure the machine works and have it serviced yourself. I usually tell my service guy that I just want regular cleaning and adjusting, if he finds something wrong he must call me first before fixing it. That way they aren't doing any unnecessary preventative maintenance.

I called the place where she had it serviced last, which isn't far from the house, to ask how much it would cost to get it serviced. $90, is that bad?
