Default Janome MOD 100Q

I'm looking for a lightweight machine to take out to quilting and Costco has this model at a pretty good price right now. Is anyone familiar with it? I also looked at the Janome NMQ2016 when I was at the Houston Quilt Expo but didn't buy it as I couldn't decide. Anyone familiar with it? It's about $200 more.
Thanks in advance!

THe NMQ2016 is the upgrade to the DC2015...it adds an automatic thread-cutter and extension table. I believe the DC2015 is now around $499 and the 2016 is prob a bit more. Both the 2015/2016 have adjustable presser foot pressure, variable needle positions, and they are a little larger machine and heavier at 18-20 lbs. I think the most significant difference apart from weight is the presser foot pressure. All else is pretty comparable in terms of features.

Thank you Mea for taking the time to respond. You've confirmed some differences that I had suspected as well. I went ahead and ordered the MOD 100Q from Costco as it looks like it is just missing the thread cutter and the presser foot pressure adjustment. I have the the thread cutter on my 6600 that I rarely use, so don't think I'll miss it and the only thing I'm left wondering about is the necessity of the presser foot adjustment, when I'm only likely to use this machine for piecing quilting cotton. Years ago we bought our daughter a Kenmore branded/Janome made sewing machine which does not have a presser foot adjustment and she has been sewing garments with her machine quite successfully, so I have to think its not going to be an issue. Apparently Costco only brings in these machines at this time of the year and this year they are priced at $400, so it seems like a good deal to me!

To me, pressure foot adjustment is optional for piecing only. I have it on my Bernina and do use quite often when doing tote bags and garment construction. I also have it on my 301 but have never adjusted it since I've been using it to piece. Its nice to have but I don't consider it really necessary for piecing only. I've never used it when piecing.

I totally agree that for piecing, you would not require pressure adjustment at all. Knowing this will be used mostly for that purpose and you have the heavier duty 6600 also, the mod makes sense ... at that price it is a great value too with all the perks quilters like and a robust stitch package too. AND, it's cute!! Let us know how you like it once you have had a play with it!
