Default Janome TB30 Threadbanger Computerized Sewing Machine

I have the opportunity to purchase this from My Aunts estate and have no idea of the value. It appears to be a discontinued model. Can anyone help me. Thanks

Here's one price I found online. Keep in mind that you would be buying it as a used machine, probably with no warranty, so that would bring the value down considerably.

Assuming it's in working condition, I think its value in an estate sale would be $100 or less. With a purchase like that you want to be sure that the foot pedal comes with it and that the machine actually sews.

If you decide to purchase it, remember to take it to a Janome repair shop for a good cleaning which will run you about $80 plus any parts that may have to be replaced. Did your Aunt do a lot of sewing? Was she good about annual cleanings at a shop? Can you find out if she kept it up and cleaned and oiled it herself? So many questions about buying a used machine. But as an owner of 3 different Janome machines, I personally love them.

Could be at least ten years old. Saw posting in internet 2008 for this machine...could be older, depending on when she purchased it. Price on internet new $399. This is a low end machine. That doesn't mean that it is a bad machine, just that it has limited features and cost a lot less than other Janomes. This looks to be what I would call a class machine, that you can travel with. I love Janomes. Good Machines. If it is in good condition and clean and running OK. I would offer $90 to $100, tell them you have to pay $80 for cleaning and maintenance. Of course, you don't need to spend that money if you know how to clean and check out your machine. I would clean the lint and test drive. If it works OK, make an offer. Best wishes. Sound like you will get a computerized machine for a good price.

I agree with the others..for sure under $100 though it is probably going to be a good machine assuming its been well-cared for. It's easily at least 10-12 years old. There's a current model janome (4030?) that looks much the same which means service and parts would not be a problem. Its was/is a decent low end model but rates a top drop-in bobbin...so approaching middle line even for that long ago. I actually think used from a dealer with a bit of warranty, it might be $100 but from private party, possibly less. So far, we're all in the right ball-park.

I would not like the small throat space. I looked at the machine, don't know why they still make machines with the tiny throats.

I agree with lindaschipper. I love my 3 Janomes. My cleaning in this area is $99, but I've had very very little maintenance with all of mine going back 15 years. I think one of the keys is cleaning the machine after each big
project. I hope this is a good purchase for you.
