I found one at a yard sale on Sat. But it needs a belt, a VERY good cleaning, and a refinish on the cabinet. But, I haven't been able to talk my DH into letting me get it. They were only asking $40 for it, and I could have gotten it, but I REALLY DON'T have anywhere to put it. I just cleaned out my sewing room 2 months ago when I bought a KenQuilt short-arm quilter (which I love, but dream of more throat space!), so it's a tight fit in there already.
I didn't see any other info the New Wilson treadle, but everything moved freely. I'll inherit my great-grandmother's treadle when my aunt decides to let it go (I think she's a hoarder, so that's not gonna be anytime soon). Anyway, I couldn't find any info on this treadle, so I thought you might have some hints on finding some info.
Thanks,
Debbie

I've heard of a Wheeler & Wilson but not a New Wilson. Just wondering if it might have been made by Wheeler & Wilson, they were eventually bought out by Singer.

I'm thinking I might go back to see if she still has it. At least to get a picture of it.

For that price, you could re-sell it.

If it looks like the one in the picture on the link provided by Butterflywing, I think it was made by National. But I am not the expert.

i don't think they make good investments. there are a lot of them out there, not necessarily wilsons. people are feeling a money pinch and this is a narrow hobby interest. just because we like to quilt doesn't make it universally popular. think of the members who feel hurt that their quilty gifts go totally unappreciated. if you do decide to buy it, do it for yourself and not to resell.

if the cabinet needs a lot of work, pass this one by. refinishing the cabinet even a little greatly reduces the value and this sounds like it isn't worth more than the asking price if even that.

Thanks, butterflywing, that's kind of what I was thinking. It's just always nice to have somebody have the same opinion.
