i noticed that as soon as they stopped allowing you to use the coupons on sale items (if an item was already 20% off and the coupon was for 40% off, they would refer back to the original price and do the 40%), they began to offer more coupons, but only because most of their items are already on sale, and less of a discount because they know that you can't use the bigger discount anymore!

I don't think they are in danger of going out of business, they are beginning to carry better fabrics which, even at $1 or $2 off per yard is still cheaper than the LQS - although I won't stop shopping my LQS because i like to shop at mom and pop stores and they do have better fabrics!!

mine won't let you go back to the original price with a coupon. they used to. and i have no LQS. so there i am. joann's or online. my joann's only carries keepsake and debbie mumm amd m'liss. not a huge selection. it's a teeny store.

I believe that JoAnns just posted better than planned third quarter profits. So that doesn't sound like they're in trouble. The JoAnns in this area will be opening a Super JoAnns in 2009 and the current stores are in closeout mode. No coupons honored. Boo Hoo! Hancocks will take JoAnn coupons though. So will Michaels and AC Moore Craft Stores. (At least in this area.)

wow! wherever you are, i'm going there! maybe they're expanding because the little guys are being run out of business. do you think? i'm not getting a super store near here. there is one in nj but it's pretty far from me. are they a chain or a franchise? the people near me don't know what they're doing and keep making monetary mistakes to my advantage even after i tell them. the staff is also slobby.

JoAnn has an online catalog each month if you subscribe. You can order on line and use the online coupon. Not sure if they still have it, but they used to have an online program where after you purchased a specified amount, all purchases after that were shipped free. You can also check on line and find out where the smaller and super stores are for your state. When I was down south and we didn't have anything but WalMart I ordered everything online and was pleased.

Thanks for posting the web site. I suspect I'm not the only one who used it to sign up with JoAnn's Emails!

Joann's fabric is great for the charity quilt work I do. OR if I'm trying something new and don't want to pay an arm and a leg for the fabric.

I do like the LQS better for their personalized attention (AHH CUSTOMER SERVICE), their top notch cutting skills and just all around ambience. Their in shop specials, the great deals they spring on customers, etc. BUT unfortunately, those wonderful things do not make charity quilts.

Joann's is great for someone who already possess the quilting skills, knowledge about fabric, etc. When I'm in doubt I go to the LQS.

Our shop is nice but it's all crammed in a small space.

I did purchase on Saturday with my 50% off coupon 10 yards of warm and natural batting for $55! It is 90" wide which means I can get a lot of quilts out of one yard!

Have a great day
