Sometime recently, I saw a headline about stretching a wall hanging. I intended to go back to it, and it got away from me.
I would like to know how to do that. I make several wall hangings, and invaribly they have a sort-of-pleat where it doesn't hang completely stretched out.
If someone could drop me a line on how to do that stretch to overcome this, I would appreciate it.
Thanks, Marta
a pm would be appreciated.

Is this a quilted wall hanging? I make lots of them and just smooth the layers out and quilt like a big quilt and never seem to have any problems. Maybe I don't understand what you are asking. Do you make a sleeve to put a rod or dowel through to hang them? The sleeve needs to be loose enough to hang neatly.

You can sew triangles onto the back of the quilt in the corners and put a dowel into them, it will stretch out the quilt on the top and bottom to help make it hang right. You could also position the triangles to put a dowel into them for the sides too. If it is a big wall hanging, you may want to add pockets inbetween the corners to help support the quilt.

You can also stretch it out on a painted wood frame, tacking it into place. If you plan ahead you could leave off the binding and stretch the quilt around to the back of the frame and staple it into place. These two ideas would work best on a quilt you would not plan on taking down and washing.
