Polly, I now have carpet, but my old sewing room had hardwood floors and I used a mouse pad under the pedal. It worked great! The grip is really good. Let me know if it works for you. And if you're a cheapskate, you are not alone. I, too, try to get the most for my money. We'd be foolish not to!

Have you tried the foam rubber door mats they have at WM and dollar store? Hear they work good for holding petel in place.

I bought a cheap bath matt. Works pretty good.

You're not a cheapskate, you are being frugal, there's a difference.

Pollytink--My foot control is on an old tile floor in the basement, not near a wall. I put an old throw rug under my sewing table and put the control on that. the rug slid a little so put the rubber shelf liner under the rug and a little piece under the control. Everything stays in place now. Have to vacuum that rug every couple of weeks as it sure catches thread and often a kitty lays on that rug while I am sewing (if she isn't riding around on my fabric as I move it under the machine) :=)

How 'bout:
A.)Bargain Hunter B)Consumer wise C)Shopping advocate D)Economy enabler E)economic policyholder F)Smart shopper G) All the above
I cancelled my order at Joann's last night when I saw I was not going to be getting the 1 cent shipping. I was trying to get a gallon of Best Press which I can get in store at Hancocks, just not the gallon size. They were out of the invisigrips. My DH is very supportive of my expensive hobbies(I have 2). He draws the line at paying shipping costs.
I felt like I was/am missing out on some great opportunities, but I am well stocked on W&N, Blades, needles, fabric for now, there really isn't anything that I have to have today or even in the near future.

I put a worn sock over my foot pedal so it doesn't move under machine.
Went to Jo-A store Sat. -got 15% off spray glue - no batting bargins as I had read on computer. Sunday went online
and bought 3 pkg batting --never saw that large bolt at $99. which is what I would have preferred. Got free shipping
but no other store choices.

The mouse pads I have are all very smooth on top....bottom might work but how to fasten the pedal to the top....maybe glue two together, right sides together?

Try it and see. Mine was smooth on top, too, but did not slide off. Well, come to think of it the pedal does have four rubber circles around the rim -- is yours completely smooth? If so, you can get peel and stick circles to put on the bottom to help it grip.

I have priced them & have read the reviews on Amazon & other sites. I decided to use the waffle texture stuff instead (I bought a placemat at a thrift store for .25 cents) & it works very well. I have a Juki EX 600 & the pedal is big. Toy may want to try something like this. Others have also used cabinet lining that is waffle texture.
