I was wondering if anyone knows or has a pattern called a Texas Star? It is made with a hexagon in the center.

This one? http://jwilson.coe.uga.edu/QuiltWebsite/texasstar.html

I actually started this pattern very early in my quilting experience and can honestly say that I was in WAY over my head. My first problem was that I didn't cut the pieces perfectly which ended up with a skewed angle. Then I managed to turn the first row pieces by 90 degrees and instead of my colors radiating from the center, mine radiate into each star point. A true creative challenge :D

One of these days, I'll fix the wonky angles and finish the darn thing, and now that I told you what NOT to do, have fun.

I believe I know what you are talking about, it is 6 pointed and not made out of diamonds am I right? My grandmother made one in bright yellow that is a 6 pointed texas star.

I saw a pattern for this in a quilt magazine for April / May. Do you have a Barnes and Noble or Borders, near you? That's where I saw the magazine. I'm sorry, but I don't remember the name of the magazine, but I did see specifically "Texas Star" as the pattern name.

I've done something similar but the pattern was star of Bethlehem. I hand pieced it over papers - time consuming but a sure fire way to get your point to line up! :D

No, it's not the same is it? No hexagon centre and more than 6 points! Sorry! Ignore me!

There's a pattern named "The Lone Star" which is an 8 pointed star. It can have 8 major points and 8 minor points also. Here's a link to a pattern for an 8 point http://www.angelfire.com/va3/jclane/.../LoneStar.html

The carpenter's wheel block is sometimes used to make a Texas star type quilt.

I believe the texas star is also called the bethlehem star which has 6 or 8 points. Do you have a photo of what you are looking for?
