Does anyone have a Juki on a penny frame. I have a Juki TL98E on Pennywinkle frame. I have had it for awhile just playing get used to it. Had the tension fixed was getting nest on bottom, it was my bobbin was not good. Like to know what kind of thread you are using. You should be able to use any thread I'm told, but cotton breaks more then poly. I put a quilt on was doing fine on the borders but when I got to the squares where the pieced area was the thread started breaking more often. It has me baffled and frustrated. Thought I worked out the kinks, tension on rollers is good. Used this thread before, don't go to fast. but now it's breaking every 4 inches. it's my sister in laws quilt think I might have to take it off and rip out all the stitches I have done. Not fun...

I have a Juki on a grace frame and it works fine with cotton thread .. I use Connecting Threads large cones with a 14 needle.

A few tips to check .. make sure the machine is threaded correctly while the pressure foot is up.
...make sure the bobbin is in correctly
...make sure the pressure foot is down during the quilting
...always bring the bobbin thread up top and hold both threads when beginning to quilt (you can knot and weave them in later)

How long has it been since you changed the needle? 8 hours is about all mine can take--16 if titanium. I have also had scratchy batting cause thread breakage & a little snippet of thread trapped in the bobbin area once caused all kinds of weird issues.

I find that if my thread is breaking when going through thicker fabrics, like seams, I need to change to a bigger needle. That way it makes a larger "hole" and there is less drag on the thread so it doesn't shred or break.

i can't think of an answer for you. it only happened once with me and i think it was just that i was going too fast. good luck.

are you using old thread i had a problem with breakage on my phaff when i used old thread i got second hand it worked ok for peicing but not for quilting when i swiched to new thread my breakage problem stopped.
