I have 2 Juki TL98E machines, they have all metal parts and a darning/FMQ foot, Walking foot,Straight stitch foot and a compensating foot, which makes a perfect 1/4" seam. They are work horses and work as long and as much as I want to work. They should be oiled every 6 - 8 hours of sewing and I clean & oil the bobbin area everytime I put in a new bobbin. Bobbins hold more thread than any other machine I have. - 3 others. I am happy with the Juki. I make twin up to queen and maybe a bit larger. I quilt on my dining table.

I love my Juki. Bought it to use with Superquilter frame but find I use it for all of my piecing and general sewing. It has a beautiful stitch which is almost impossible to get with any machine that is not a straight-sttich only. I especially love it for heavy-duty sewing as in making purses and totes. I made them on my HV Quilt Designer and threw it out of whack with the extreme thickness of several layers of quilted fabric, but the Juki never blinked her cute little eye ---she went through it all with ease.

Off topic for just a minute. What frame do you have. I want to get one to use with me Juki. I just need some advice on what people like.

I have the Brother PQ 1500s and it is by far, my favorite machine and I have four..... :-D My friend has the above Juki and we say they are "twins". I think that for a straight sewing machine, you can't go wrong with either. I generally use another for my FM sewing, but my friend uses her Juki on her Handiquilter and is trying to talk me into using my Brother for FM. She thinks it is unbeatable. Like most machines, I would go for the one that you can get easily seviced close to home. However, I have had my Brother for 10 years and only had it in once....for cleaning. I can take the bottom off myself and clean out the lint........Love, Love, Love it!!!

I just bought last summer a new machine after 35 years . this one is the Bernina 440 QE. IT most definitely in my estimation the BEST !!!!
I would definitely suggest investing in this.

The Walmart Brother machines are awful. They give Brother a very bad name and I really wish they would stop selling them but oh well. I have a Brother QC1000 and a Brother serger . Got them together on a special a few years ago. Never had any problems with them And I use the machine almost every day. The serger has been used quite a bit for making crate pads for dogs. 3 layer, flannel, batting and cotton. Not a problem. I love my machine.

Well, I just bought a Brother XL2600i. It's a really cheapo, but I have the Bernina Artista 730 and cannot afford to spend a lot of money on a second machine. I wanted a light-weight one. I would like to take some quilting classes and don't want to lug my good one around. I've only quilted some strips for my photo quilt on it. It is, of course, nothing like sewing with my good one, but I think I will like it. It sews a good seam so far. Anyone else have one of these? Deciding on a machine is so hard!

This is the same machine that I have had for several years. I love it for doing everything except actually quilting a quilt. It has made several quilts, countless clothing items and several hundred purses and bags. It has never given me any trouble at all! It came from Walmart as a gift because I didn't know if I really wanted to get back into sewing on a regular basis, and now that I use it daily I would't trade it for the world. But I am however going (hopefully) Sunday to get that Brother PQ1500 that has been calling out to me! lol Now I will have little Brother and big Brother.

Good luck to everyone looking for a machine!
