Smile Just a quick tip, quilt on frame to hand quilt

Just stumbled across this....put my quilt on one of those plastic Dritz floor frames; my quilt is all hand appliqued (pueblo pottery pots) and very thick in those places; well the sleeves did not want to go over and I did not want to force for fear of ruining some of the applique; my husband was going to cut the sleeves into smaller pieces so I could place where there wasn't applique but I suddenly thought of wax paper; I put long sheets of wax paper over the quilt where the sleeves were to go and sure enough that allowed just enough slippage to go over the thick parts. You may already know this but just thought I would pass it along.
Sincerely, Antylu

What a great idea! I used waxed paper to plan out my quilting. I can mark on it the size of the block, try my design and then layer it over that area to see what it looks like ON the quilt. I save the ones I like. The rest...get tossed. no regrets!

great idea!! i had one that wasn't Q Snap frame and the top "sleeves" wouldn't stay on at all. I ended up using large safety pins. Later on I got the Q Snap frame and gave the other one away. kept the tilting legs though.

Antylu, I am really looking forward to seeing your beautiful quilt after it's quilted. (I saw it at Quilt Loft when you were working on it.) I hope you will enter it in the quilt show in Lebanon in September - so I hope you get it done by then!!!

Thanks so much! I have no idea as if I will have it quilted; I would like to but shall have to wait and see. I don't really believe my skills are what would be required for a quilt show, but will talk to you in the event it is quilted by then. Take care.

Your skills are definitely up to par. Most definitely. Outrageously so.
