Default Kona Solids Sampler

Is there a pack of precuts available that has all 365 of the Kona Solids (Robert Kaufman Fabrics)? I have the color card but the squares are tiny and glued in place...I want to create a fan of larger samples, similar to what designers carry to pick paint colours, so I can look at combinations "for reals" and get a sense of how the colours play.

I am not great at visualizing combo's in my head, I need them in front of me on the table!

And....if there is not a charm pack containing each colour, is anyone interested in doing a big swap where each swapper sends out charm squares of some of the colours, such that all swappers end up with a complete set of all 365??

Happy quilting all,
Janet

I cut my Kona color card and put the individual samples in those plastic
protectors used for coins and stamps. I think there are 20-30 pockets
per sheet. I tried to put them in a tackle box but that didn't work well
because you can't really see the colors unless you lift one by one.
Plus they would probably get dirty and change the overall color.
Unfortunately this system doesn't work with Moda. Can't cut them.

I have several color cards for various manufacturers, and the only really nice one that has huge swatches that fan out are the Moda Basic Gray Grunge Line, the best 65.00 I have ever spent. I wish more manufacturers would make these decks and sell new cards to add as they introduce new colors. I would gladly pay to have a larger swatch and would love to have more manufacturers!

I have on a few occasions seen bundles of Fat Quarters that include the new Kona colors for 2018, 2019 etc.... but never one that had every color, mostly at Fat Quarter Shop.

I would cut up my card if the sample squares were bigger..they are about 1" square. I want a much bigger swatch for each colour.

That Grunge card is good and I do have it.

I order a lot of my fabrics online as we have so few brick and mortar stores left. And not many carry big solids selections.

I like the swap idea! 52 swappers with 7 colors each or 31 swappers with 12 colors each would make the set. With 52 swappers you’d need to buy 7 one yard cuts each, or with 31 swappers you’d buy twelve 2/3 yard cuts. The 365 squares would make a quilt finishing 76.5 by 99 (or so - hard to make it even).

Has anyone looked at the existing charm packs to see if you bought the various ones you might end up with most of the colors?

I looked at Miss Star & they have Kona charms in a few colorways.

Kona offers 101 pc charm packs in three different colour ways....Dusty, Bright and Pastel. So you end up with 303 different colours which has to be pretty close to a complete line. Then I guess as the new colours packs come out every year you can keep your collection current. Looks like it will set you back about $70US to purchase all three. I considered this a while ago but didn’t follow through for two reasons.....one, they weren’t in stock and two I fell in love with Northcott solids and that is all I use now.

Add the smaller "neutrals" charm pack and you might be able to finish out the "map".

I would think you'd have to have the Kona color card to label each, though. I wouldn't think they come labeled (or maybe the packaging is?)

I did dig up a link to Sewfinity and they have a tutorial on making whiteboard magnets out of the Kona color card. Very clever and would be a fab gift to a quilter...or guild prize!

But I would rather have larger swatches than the approx. 1" squares that the color card yields : )
