I am making a baby quilt for a friend of my daughters to give to her sister who is having a baby. Should I label the quilt? If yes, what should it say?

Your name, the date, who it is made for, and then you can also add in where you live as well as anything else that you would like to include :D:D:D

Do you label all your quilts? If so, where?

On the back bottom right hand corner. Tucked into the binding.

I would label it. I didn't when I started but do all of them now. Just a note of my name, when it was completed and for who. Sometimes a special little note if it's for something special.

since it's not fro you (is it?) i wouldn't put who it's for, just my name and date and pattern or quilt name. if it is a gift from you then i would include the name of the giftee (baby)

Label it by all means. You created it. Take credit for your work. You could also include who it was given to and by.

at least your name, the date, your home town, and i usually include washing instructions; not everyone knows how to care for their quilt.
i make kids quilts sturdy to be used and abused and expect them to be tossed into the washer and dryer when needed. I made a pretty cool quilt one time for a special young ladie (she was 9) a couple years later the topic came up and she told me her quilt was in a box under the bed, her parents would not let her use it....when i asked why they said, "what if it gets dirty? then we would have to throw it away?" i about fell off my chair...and let them know i had thrown it into the washer and dryer before i ever gave it to her and they could wash it when ever they wanted it would be ok...one very happy 12 year old! Every since then i include laundering instructions on every quilt.
