I am thinking of using MistyFuse for some easy fusible applique, with satin stitching around the edges. I satin stitched some fusible applique years ago but didn't much like the stiffness created by regular thread for the satin stitching. Was wondering if silk thread (100 wt?) would be nicer. I've never used silk thread; is it difficult to handle?

Do a test block and see how it works. Just a thought:)

I love using silk thread for my satin stitch. I have managed to accumulate quite a collection! I like YLI silk thread and I use a size 60 needle. (Word of caution: most needle threaders on machines will not work with the 60 needle so you have to thread manually! - Now doesn't that make sense that the smallest needle can't be threaded automatically!)

I use an embroidery thread in the bobbin because it less apt to cause tension issues with the silk thread.

Try some practice pieces and have fun!

i love using silk threads and use them for lots of different projects, including applique...i usually do a blanket stitch or small zig=zag instead of a satin stitch but i would think it would work just fine
