Default Labels on Charity Quilts?

I am making my first charity quilt and I need help with what the label should have on it. My name? City? Just don't know. If anyone can shed some light for me I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

I usually check with the charity about labels. I donate to one group that requests no "detachable" labels because of frequent washings in an industrial machine. In that case, I add the information to the binding or in a lower corner of the quilt back. This information can either be embroidered (before the quilting) or added by permanent fabric marker.

I also ask the charity what information they want (or not want) to be added to the marking. I have never had an organization say I can't put my name, city and state, date, reason for the donation, or pattern name. I do have one charity suggest that I only put my first initial and last name so that's what I do for them. Also (unlike this post), I try not to be too long-winded. For example, here is what I included on a quilt that I donated last week. J. Hubbard, Milan, OH, Log Cabin quilt, FTMC Children's Cancer Center, Donated 4/2012

Good luck and thanks for making donation quilts! I know someone will love them! :-)

fiber content and care instructions- especially if allergies could be an issue for the recipient...the fiber content is important- often charitable organizations have their own guidelines for what should be on the label- if you are making it to give somewhere on your own---your name, city, state, name of the quilt, fiber content & care instructions may be appropriate....and enough

Our guild provides labels that give the guild's name, and that is all. Many of our comfort quilts are made from donated fabrics, pieced by one person, quilted by another, and bound by a third.

Quilts for Kids provides the labels for their quilts...but they don't respond if you email them asking for just labels for quilts you've made for them. And I've forgotten what exactly you put on them, but it's not much; I think the name of the quilt goes on it but not much else...I'm sure someone will jump in here on this if I've forgotten...

you have asked a very good question ,I 've only done the tops of donation and passed them unto the next person.

except for the Holiday auction quilts that my sister and me both work together on and complete.

When I donate my own quilts, I prefer to be anonymous. The dogs and the cats don't care who or what made them. They just want to sleep and lie on them.

Some recent samples of donated quilts & blankets below:

My quilts to a local nursing home have embroidered labels with cute sayings or like "He shall give his angels charge over thee....or "Quilts are like families, stitched together...." , just something that makes it feel personal to the recipient. But I don't put my name--tho I do put the year. Sometimes I do a cute embroidery directly on the backing. I don't need to put my name because they won't know who I am and won't really care. These items are just to show they are remembered. It might be me someday, and I'd like someone to give me something pretty.

Our chapter of Project Linus has labels that we sew on. Just states the name of the organization, not the sewist's name or anything specific.

We used to just put "Love and Comfort to You" on ours.
