In doing a Baltimore Album type quilt, should you use the same fabrics through out the quilt? Like same greens for leaves, etc. Thanks in advance for the help.

I've seen it done both ways - but would say most of the ones I've seen have used the same coordinated fabrics throughout. I love that style of quilt - be sure to post in the pictures section when you get it done!

Different flowers have different leaves so I think different greens are going to make it more realistic (even different shades of the same green in one block) Don't forget to use the wrong side of the green fabric for variation in value. Somehow tie the blocks together...maybe with the same background; maybe use a same fabric somewhere in each of the blocks. It wouldn't hurt to use the same green in a few other blocks if you think it is right for that flower. Good luck and have fun! I LOVE applique!

It's your choice, really. I would probably use different greens, but use the same greens throughout the quilt, same with the reds and other colors.

Thanks to all. This is a P3Design, its her Baltimore Christmas and it is beautiful. She is so nice and has answered all the ??? I had. (I do not even know this woman) :) I too love needle turn and its about all I do. I will use the same background through out the quilt but I was unsure of the rest.

If you use a little of the same colours in each block, when it is completed you will have cohesion and unity within the quilt. If you make a different colour or fabric for each one you get separation, I have seen both so it is up to you and what you like really, I would check out lots of pictures to help you decide.

I'm doing the Balt Quilt BOM on this site...stated the 8th.
I didn't want to go out and buy the colors stated and yes all colors stayed the same thruout...So I asked and lady running said go for it (using diff colors) but use one color constant in all blocks...like the leaves...
