Default last stitch sadness and joy - anyone else?

I have lived with this quilt since April. On and off for various reasons. Now hand binding the last round to the quilt. All applique has been, with love, stitched my hand. Machine quilted. I do hope the recipiant will drag it in the dirt, spill food and drink one it.. have little picnic's with his bears .. ect.. drag it around while visiting his Grandma.

I have never accepted a request to quilt for money..not a family or extened family member.. always for free, nor after this experience do this again for money. Would I do the same quilt? Yes at my own standards, not repeat the idea of stripping out the quilting for the back "did not match the front" .. a few items as such..

The last few stitches are finishing a quilt now loved. How do you all do this on a regular basis? Wow.. hats off to you.

It sounds like you should reward yourself for getting this quilt done! Chocolate maybe?? (I have never quilted for money either. Just not my cup of tea.)

I never have any sadness at the end, just joy. I can't wait to see the recipient's face and it means I can start something new! That's my favorite thing - a new project, perhaps a trip to the fabric store, all the possibilities of a new beginning. I love finishing, so I can begin again!

I've done one quilt for money. NEVER AGAIN!!! Too much stress and I dislike feeling pressured about being perfect. My motto is "Better finished than perfect." The recipient loved the quilt and is going to show it to her niece who quilts professionally. I cringed at that but it is a much-loved quilt. She refuses to share it with her husband. I did have to change the fabrics a couple of times and I substituted several fabrics she didn't like but wouldn't tell me at first that she disliked those colors. Once the colors were satisfactory, I pretty much had free reign as to placement and what I quilted on it except for borders. She wanted her favorite Bible verses in borders - we compromised with addresses of them.
