Unfortunately a lot of quilters and others with hobbies are under a budget crunch. Prices are going up on every thing from food to gas to necessities. That means our "wants" have to take a back seat. That does not mean we don't enjoy our hobbies. It just means we have to be more creative about how we get more fabric. I can see from the board that a lot of us gather, reuse, repurpose fabric. That is great.

I don't want to know what I spend in a year. I probably spent $2-300 just this last week with books 40% off at Joann's, ordering sale fabric for two projects, and a few tools and patterns this morning.

I'm among those who have spent freely in the past, but now the time has come to make quilts...not buy fabric. Finished one this week from 24 ten-inch circus blocks so I am quite proud of myself!

I don't keep track of what I spend for quilting. It would probably scare me. LOL

This is an interesting topic. I have a great job so I don't feel guilty. Probably spent about $5,000 last year but with that being said I am a relatively new quilter, am building up my stash, bought a new machine that will allow me to grow into and with it. Currently I take my quilts to a longarmer to be quilted but I am hoping to learn on this new machine to be able to do my own. I pieced 6 quilts last year and have 2 WIPs currently with several in the que. SO, I don't really feel guilty about the amount. and....going to Paducah in a few weeks. I guess if I did not have such a good job and or we could not afford it...it would be a different story.

My DH's attitude is don't add it up, you don't really want to know.
