Double Slice Layer cake

If you google 'msqc layer cake tutorials' you should find several by Jenny Doan.
Try without using msqc and you may find others.

Missouri Star Quilt Co has a tutorial for Double Slice which uses only layer cakes. I have made this pattern several times --easy to do.

Missouri Star also has a pattern for a churn dash block that uses layer cakes. You need a solid for the background of the blocks also. They used another layer cake, but I just cut my own.

She used a small sq in each corner. I did not. I used layer cake squares cut in 4ths as my centers. Some of the fabrics would not have had enough contrast to the background. Those I used for centers. I believe this was a Me and My Sister fabric line.

The double slice quilt pattern is my go-to pattern for layer cakes. Goes together quickly and looks so different every time. The other site I would check is Moda Bake Shop. And I see others beat me to suggesting both of these!

Only layer cakes? if you are talking about using them as a focus and not cutting, the BQ pattern from mapleislandquilts. com is good. does have two strips on two sides. but the blks are turned every other one. can look great. oriental or what ever print you have.

My absolute favorite is the Quatrefoil - also shown in a tutorial by Jenny Doan. I did use a solid for the corner pieces which I had to add but I just love the way that pattern looks. It is a great design for flashy fabrics.

Have you seen the new Moda Cake Mixes (http://blog.modafabrics.com/cakemix/)? I saw them demo'ed at a Quilt Show and they look very cool. Moda also has a whole list of layer cake patterns (http://www.modabakeshop.com/category/layer-cake). They are cute. I also found these free ones on Craftsy (https://www.craftsy.com/blog/2016/03...uilt-patterns/).

100's! But, without a doubt, the most fun you tube videos to watch are Jenny Doans from the Missouri Star Quilt Co. I like to tell newbies to watch some of her stuff, because she not only makes mistakes and laughs about it, but she always tells folks she is 'directionally challenged' and must double think when she attaches pieces. Almost everything she does is with precuts because that is what they sell, so you will find many, many layer cake patterns (or charm pack patterns which of course are layer cakes cut in quarters).
