Default how should I quilt this miniature?

All, here is a photo of an 11in x 13in miniature. I am not happy with the quilting in the middle, where the 9 patches are. They are 1.5 in squares, finished. I am the meander queen on my DSM. I'm happy with the meander in the outmost dark brown border, happy with the SITD in the 1/4 in blue border.

I have an overall meander in the middle section. Looks just okay in photo but up close I have a lot of uneveness in the 9 patches. Look carefully at the blue/cream 9 patch on the bottom left and you will see the 'bumps'.

Am thinking of ripping it out in that middle section and re-doing with one of the following options:
1--do a small stiple in the dark brown squares and setting triangles and maybe a spiral in each 9 patch
2--do an overall small stiple over the the middle section

There are no ditches in that middle section. I had to press all the seams open to reduce bulk.

Ideas welcome!!

I would be tempted to stitching in ditch for the blocks and maybe free motion on the border. Pretty little quilt!

I vote for #1. I like the idea of a circular design in the 9-patches...spiral or wreath. It highlights the focus element of the quilt and complements the 'squareness' of the blocks. Great quilt...love your color choices.

Thanks, judylg and ghost rider. ghostrider, you should recognize the 1/4 nch skinny border!

I ripped out my original stitching in the middle section and went with north/south and east/west straight lines with my walking foot between all the 9 patches. Next will do a little swirl in each 9 patch.

I sure did recognize it, Katie. It turned out really well and a handy new technique has been added to your resumé! Have fun swirling!!
