Question Like a Carpenter's Wheel or Star block, but bigger?

I saw a scrappy carpenter's star here a while ago, and loved it. Can't find that thread again though.

Most of the carpenters wheel/star blocks I have found are made 12 squares wide, 12 squares high. Some are 8 by 8 squares. Is there anything BIGGER out there? Lots bigger???

I have a quilt retreat coming up this weekend. Would it be crazy to do this project there? I want to be able to finish the entire thing.

You can make Carpenter's Square quilt larger by cutting larger squares...just how big are you wanting your quilt??

I am wanting something a little more complicated than carpenters star ... not just bigger. I have an excel spreadsheet to calculate my final quilt size, just trying to decide on the block to use.

I made a carpenter's star that is the center of a quilt I'm working on. it is 8 squares by 8 squares. The squares are all 6.5 inches square. So it makes a big center for the quilt I'm doing. I'm using that as the centerpiece with 12 BOM squares 12.5 inches square, plus other squares, etc. That center star went together really fast. Good luck!

I posted a picture of a scrappy carpenters star in progress about a month ago. I am away from home and using my iPhone and can't redo the picture from here. Maybe if you search under my name you can find my version. I do think I put it under pictures and called it "scrappy carpenter's star in progress".

GMTA ... that's exactly the one I was wondering that 1000Projects might be looking for! A great scrappy-stash-buster. You'd better like making HSTs if you're going to do it!

True! If I could ever figure out how to find the old "My Pages", I could've posted a better photo series of Buggy Wheels. Found the Bookmarks - finally - but can't find My Pages. Like having another job trying to wade through looking for what was so simply labeled before this New & Improved version. Very time consuming.
BTW, may I ask what GMTA stands for? Thanks.
