margie - i never heard of qnntv, either.
let us know what you think of the lessons. what i saw on the demonstrator video indicated that you needed to buy their kit in order to take advantage of the instructions that they give. i don't know if this will be true for everything there, so tell us what you learn and how you like it.

Well, I have been watching Nancy Notions films. Nothing to buy unless you want. Learned about some interesting crazy quilting techniques, bobbin work, yarn work. Watched one of hers about very interesting "scrap quilt" she called treasure quilt (I think) using scraps of fabric and using more odd shaped small pieces to insert little three dimensional details. Watched a few of Mary Michelle, some on general quilting tips. There seems to be a wealth of information, for someone like me anyway who is not experienced. I am excited about it. Just a couple quilting magazines or a book could add up to more than $24.00 for a year. They have free patterns and things too. I am planning on downloading a really cute wall hanging, three pieces of fruit (apple, pear and peach with the names of each in English and French).
Will update you when I learn more, just joined this afternoon lol.

so far it sounds grand. are there tips for bed-sized quilts? anything about loading a frame or freehand work, like that?

i know that on the Glory Be ! quilt instructions you do have to buy the kit. the demonstration video makes that very clear and when i boogied around i linked up to the kits section and they don't sell the pattern without the fabric.

if you ever have the opportunity, as a member, to buy the pattern alone for GLORY BE in all 10 parts, i would love to pay you for it.
i also tape the sewing shows every day on public tv at 3 pm central time. we get sewing with nancy, fons & porter,, elenor (sp?) burns, martha pullen and one other, i forget who. they do good projects and have good guests.
for example ricky tims demonstrated his simple table-top frame and showed how he makes his diagonal backing
so , to tell the truth, i don't really think i need anything else. i won't live long enough to do my "to-do" as it is. not to mention my library of quilting books that i can't sell for a decent price, so i decided to keep them.
and i can't find my husband in the dust bunnies anymore. i just hear coughing once in a while.

LOL....I wish our public tv carried more of those programs. It upsets me too because I always support them during their fund raising drivesl I will be on the lookout for buying that for you.

I took a class from QU a few years ago. I was also able to download the lessons and print them off. There are a lot of free tutorials on the web...even some on video. Are you looking for something specific?
