Default lint from minky

I made a quilt for my DGD using minky for the backing (no batting). I managed to contain the lint while cutting it by throwing it in the dryer every time I cut it, and serging it to the quilt top before quilting, so I thought that I was in good shape. But when the quilt was done, and the matching pillowcase (all have large black portions), and I washed them they came out so full of lint from the turquoise minky, that I have been eating up lint roller sheets by the dozen and I can't seem to ever get rid of the lint--it is really bad. It's getting on other things in my sewing space--it's like a monster that I can't get rid of. I tried rubbing it with the rubber drawer liner stuff, which gets some of it out, and I tried putting it in the dryer again with fabric softener sheets (which someone on QB suggested), but it keeps producing more and more lint. Help!

This made me think of The Cat In The Hat Comes Back and the pink bathtub, and gave me a chuckle! I'm sorry, I don't mean to laugh at your situation. Can you try washing it again, maybe more than once, to see if that cuts down on the lint?
