I have the lock stitch on my machine. I have never used it until today. I was wondering if any of you have this feature. Does it hold as good as back stitching. I have had my machine for about alittle over a year now. If I remember right when I first bought it I tried the stitch but have never used it always did the back stitching.

I have the lock stitch on my Husqvarna Lily 540 (nothing fancy). It holds well and if the backing is patterned I don't mind using it. But I find it leaves a little "knob" of thread on the back so prefer not to use it on a plain backing.

I use mine with no problems at all. It stitches in place to prevent stitches pulling out.

It works great, much better I think than back stitching, although you should have the bobbin thread matching the backing as much as possible, since you can definetly(sp) tell where the locking stitching is.

yes mine leaves alittle knob on the back also.

I'm surprised to hear about a "knob" maybe it's something with your tension settings? This stitch holds better than regular backstitching because it actually is sewing three stitches where you would normally only have one. One stitch forward, one backward and then one forwards again to return to your starting point. It of course uses more thread, but when I was working with my half square triangles I noticed they were being handled so much some of the seams where starting to pull out, so I've been sewing them all with the lockstitch now.
