Lightbulb To mix or not to match.

Would you mix batiks with a Moda Bella solid? Would appreciate your answers. Thank you.
PS. Would you wash them first. The moda is black.

Yes! I've seen some beautiful batik quilts with Bella solid black.

go for it---and as far as wash--get some white paper and rub really hard on all and any color showing on the paper--wash the fabric.

I wash all fabric except precuts. I have mixed solids from various brands with batiks successfully.

Mix 'till your heart's content! And I would wash all of it!

I mix frequently and have always had success. I do think it important to wash first. I like the mixture of surface texture in mixing the fabrics. I recently did this with a bargello quilt.

Yes, I love to mix fabrics. But I would only wash the black.

I'm working on Judy's Mystery Train 19 and I mixed batiks with non-batiks. I love the way it's turning out!
I'm not a pre-washer.

I use batiks in almost every quilt I make, along with what ever fabrics I’m using, solids, prints, panels, flannels....never had a quilt not turn out because I used Batiks. I love Batiks.
I prewash ones that have very saturated colors or fail a ( color bleed test)

I use any fabric anywhere I want to.

I also wash everything, especially Batiks and dark colours and I check the water to see if they are bleeding so I know whether I need to wash them again. (Can you tell I had a bad experience?)
