Last night I was busy cooking supper while my GD Nasha was playing... I have a king size quilt in a pvc rack.. She loves playing under my quilting rack and thinks it is neat under there...

Well I finished getting supper together and came out to find her working on my quilt  .. She was sewing away... Using the stab stitch no less but it is still quilting... I figured I would have to take out the stitches she did but they were really nice.. Uniform and I really could not tell where I stopped and she started.... She looked at me with the innocence of a kid and said "See Granny.. I can do it too"

So today we are making her a quilt sandwhich.. Out of Scooby-Doo material.. It will be 24 in by 24 in..I will let her have one of my small wooden hoops and she is going to "quilt" her first doll baby blanket by hand.. She is so excited.. She told her Grandpa she is going to start her "project" today...It just amazed me how much she learned by just watching me all these years...

Sweet, sweet story! I teach five (soon to add two more) 4Hers and the little ones are just like sponges. Soaking up everything and are so eager. This past season one was a grand champion, two were reserve champions, and the last two also got blue ribbons.

When I lived in the Washington, DC area, a friend and her adult daughter were both quilters. They gave their scraps to the granddaughter. The granddaughter played fabric store, matching up colors/prints/etc. She pressed her fabrics and used the flannel board to display her work.

We moved away about 10 years ago and I'd bet the mortgage she has already made her first quilt!

    Keep your little one interested.

That is fabulous! The next generation has started! You tell her from me that I'm excited for her and hope she'll have you post a picure. I'm sure that, even if we couldn't see the stitches we'd still love to tell her how thrilled we are for her first quilt!

I am very proud of her.. She is such a joy.. The only grandshild I have and she is my world... We spend at least a couple hours a day together at least...

In fact she has never had a store bought blanket... They have all been made by me.. When I go shopping for material she always goes with me.. By the time she was 2 yrs old she would ask for a specific piece of material and I would always give in and make another

I do plan on picking up a camera within the next month.. As soon as I do I will get a pic or two of her quilting.. I also want to put some of my quilts up for all of you to see...

Yes! Pictures! When you say pictures of her quilting, I hope that means of her doing actual quilting. That would be precious.

That is sooo cool!!! Wish we were closer, we could get your grandaughter and my girls together for their own little quilting bee. I bet your grandaughter would love teaching them what grandma does!!! (Then maybe mine could teach me!! :D )
